Globally there has been a significant increase since 1990 of undetected hypertension. In 2021 Lancet published an article where they highlighted that almost 1.28 billion adults aged between 30-79 live with hypertension. People with hypertension are at risk for heart disease. Also in 2021 the World Health Organisation published the following;

- Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death globally.
- An estimated 17.9 million people died from CVDs in 2019, representing 32% of all global deaths. Of these deaths, 85% were due to heart attack and stroke.
- Over three quarters of CVD deaths take place in low- and middle-income countries.
- Out of the 17 million premature deaths (under the age of 70) due to noncommunicable diseases in 2019, 38% were caused by CVDs.
Unfortunately lifestyle factors are a significant contributor to CVD. Knowing these contributors allows us to change to a more healthier lifestyle so that you can reduce the risk of CVD.

What is Cardiac Mentors all about!
The Cardiac Mentors aim is to help coach people on lifecycle factors that will impact the modifiable risk factors and hence reduce the CVD risks. One of most significant lifestyle changes is moving to a whole foods plant based diet. Our aim is to provide information, change strategies and guide you through these changes to reduce your risks of being a CVD statistic.
Cardiovascular problems have been shown to be reversible. Instead of a future with a growing dependency on pharmaceuticals and a decreasing quality of life; you can introduce life style changes that will start the process of repairing the damage that a traditional western diet has caused to your body.
